Our story
The Alvelus story
A family project begun in Proença-a-Nova, between schist terrain and the wines of Beira Baixa.
Alvelus began to take shape in 2007, when the Gonçalves family turned its connection to Proença-a-Nova into a project dedicated to wine.
Today, 18 hectares of vineyard and three collections tell that story simply: begin with the place, work with care and let each wine find its place at the table.

Vineyards on schist terrain
The Alvelus vineyards cover 18 hectares in Proença-a-Nova, in inland Beira Baixa.
Schist marks both the ground and the landscape. This is the setting for the Origem and Reserva ranges and the small-production editions.
The winery
A family project
The Gonçalves family has developed Alvelus since 2007. At the winery, that family journey becomes the wines that now make up the house’s three collections.
The range has grown without losing its clear structure: Origem brings together the most direct wines, Reserva adds structure and depth, and the 2026 Editions make room for small releases.
